• Analysed station:
BN-1 (latitude: 47.13,longitude: 24.50, altitude: 357.00 )

  • Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) Analysis:

The NO2 emissions in 2020 were really close to the ones in 2019, with some exceptions at the start and end of the year, but even lower during the lockdown periods. Also, as expected, the emissions during lockdown periods were significantly lower, but as the restrictions got more permissive, they started growing.

  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) Analysis:

At the start of 2020 the amount of CO was higher than in 2019, but as COVID-19 appeared, the emissions decreased and maintained at low values until the end of the year, when while still lower than in 2019, significantly higher than the rest of 2020.

  • Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) Analysis:

SO2 emissions in 2020, on the other hand, were really close to the 2019 ones when the first COVID-19 cases appeared. Also, as the other emissions, at the end of the year the emissions got a lot higher than the ones before, even going over the 2019 emissions.

  • Conclusion:

In conclusion, with few exceptions, the lockdown periods in Bistrita-Nasaud made a real difference in 2020, as emissions got lower than in the previous year, but still quite close to those.
